Registration for the 2025/26 season is now open!

Welcome to the home page of the Weston Creek Redbacks. We provide weekly athletics competition and coaching from October to March for young athletes aged 5-17 years.

A bit about us

We are a little athletics club located in Chapman, ACT. Chapman Oval is our home turf which you can access off Tauchert Street. Our competition program is structured to ensure maximum enjoyment for athletes of all ability.

Key Dates

Our season commenced on Saturday 18 October 2025 and runs through till Saturday 14 March 2026 (with a break over Christmas and January).

Season Fee 

The 2025-26 season fee is $190 per athlete. This covers the cost of sportsground hire, equipment (purchase, service and repair), trophies, yearbooks and other publications and insurance, access to Capital Athletics and national competitions (age-dependent), and affiliation fees with Capital Athletics. Registration fees have increased this season due to an increase from Capital Athletics of $11 per athlete; and a small increase in the WCLAC portion of the fees to account for changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Note: Full season fees apply for athletes registering through until the Christmas break. Part season fees apply for athletes registering after the Christmas break.

Age Groups

Age groups are based on a ‘calendar year’ age structure i.e. based on the age an athlete is turning the year the season concludes (2026). For example, athletes turning 6 during 2026 will be in the U6 years group.

Volunteering 

Parents and carers are critical to little athletics and we require your involvement each week. Your child’s registration will not be complete until you have signed up to the duty roster (link will be in the registration confirmation email). Be advised that the set up, pack up and canteen duties the club is seeking to fill as part of the registration process are on top of what parents and carers are normally expected to do to assist each Saturday, including helping move age groups from event to event, time keeping, measuring, collecting discuses etc.

Uniforms can be purchased from our online uniform shop or directly from the Club at Saturday meets (all sizes are currently available and we have more on order).

Facebook is the best way to get up-to-date information about the Redbacks including weather cancellations, upcoming events and other key information. In the event of wet weather, we will make a call at 8am every Saturday about whether to go ahead. If it is OFF we send out an email to registered athletes and post on our Facebook page.
