The successful Little Athletics ACT (LAACT) U13 Development Squad for all registered LAACT U13 athletes will be returning in 2016/17 and LAACT are very excited to announce that the invitation to participate in the squad will be extended to athletes in the U14 and 15 age groups.
The aim of the U13-15 Development Squad is to provide the athletes with specialist coaching in a squad environment. The purpose of the squad is to assist the athletes to reach their potential and provide them with the best possible opportunity to gain selection in the ACT team for the Australian Little Athletics Championships (ALAC) for athletes in the U13 and U15 age groups and selection to attend the U15 Little Athletics Australia (LAA) Camp for athletes in the U14 age group. Please note that participation in the squad is not compulsory and does not guarantee selection in the ACT team for ALAC or attendance at the U15 LAA camp.
There will be a total of four squad days during the season. A squad day will be held on the following dates between 10.00am – 12.30pm at Woden Park in Phillip:

- Sunday 11 December 2016
- Sunday 12 February 2017
- Sunday 05 March 2017
2016/17 will see the introduction of education sessions for the athletes delivered by industry specialists. The sessions will begin providing the athletes with helpful information that will assist with their training and competition (i.e. nutrition, psychology, recovery, etc). Details on how to register for the squad and the costs involved will be available soon! The Australian Little Athletics Championship (ALAC) is a State/ Territory teams event for the Under 13 Age Group, and an individual multi-event championship for the Under 15 age group. Athletes will be selected by the LAACT following the LAACT Championships. Athletes wishing to be considered are required to meet a number of pre-qualification requirements. These requirements will be provided to athletes in these age groups during the season.

Events on our competition and practice days occur in specific locations. Here is a map of the field layout.
Achievement tickets are awarded for each event in which an athlete competes during the club season. These tickets should be pasted in their personal performance booklet.
The purpose of this is to display the progress they have made in each event during the year. Further, upon competing in their first thirty (30) events and each multiple of fifty (50) events, athletes will be awarded a “merit achievement” badge which is suitable for sewing on their uniform or a tracksuit (an athlete can receive badges for 30, 50, 100, 150, 200, etc events competed)
Two club captains will be elected and hold office for a complete season. Club Captains will be appointed by vote and commence office immediately. Elections will be held during the first month of competition. Nominations for the position of club captain, Boy and Girl, will each be taken from the U13 and above age group with voting to be done by a show of hands from the U11 age group and above.
